Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


Profile registration is absolutely free. To start:

  1. Fill out the required information on the student registration page, including the guardian/parent section if your child is under 18.
  2. Make sure the information you write about your child is as honest and genuine as possible. This will help us find the right fit for your teacher.
  3. As there are many qualified instructors, please be patient while trying to find a match. Ensure you select “Kids” from the dropdown menu to access the right group of instructors. Also, feel free to book 10-minute short sessions with teachers that you are interested before committing to standard sessions.

The minimum you need to teach or play on musicU.Live:

  1. A computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone compatible with our live integration software.
  2. A reliable internet connection.
  3. A web camera and microphone to see and talk with each other.
  4. The instrument you’ll be learning.

Depending on the lesson, there might be additional requirements for either the student or the teacher (e.g. special instrument needs, preparation prior to session, etc.) so be sure to connect with a short introductory 10-minute session before beginning classes.

The official language is English, and the official currency is Canadian dollars.

Active students at musicU.Live, who have successfully completed at least one 45-minute session with an instructor in the past 12 months are eligible to comment and/or rate their instructors after each session.

Feedback helps build the community of students and teachers, and provides insights on the instructors.

Each instructor sets the price for their own sessions, depending on their level of experience. The fee is processed once the session is booked. You will receive a 24-hour reminder about your upcoming lesson.
There will be an annual administration fee of CAD$10 if you are accepted. You must have at least one successfully completed 45-minute session with a student in the past 12 months to be considered an active instructor.

There is a 24-hour refund/cancellation policy.

For students who cancel less than 24 hours before their scheduled session, they will be charged the full amount. If an instructor cancels with less than 24 hours notice, they will provide a full refund to the student.


Profile registration is absolutely free. To start:

  2. Make sure the information about you and your teaching credentials is as current as possible.
  3. Ensure you provide valid links to video(s) of you playing your instrument(s), and valid certifications (upload any documentation you have).
The screening process is free and takes between 5-10 business days. Upon acceptance, you will receive a welcome email with information on payment details, insights on how to find your ideal students, and how to present yourself to build your site presence.


To add multiple children, you must register with a unique email address for each child. If you currently have one email address, you will need to create a new email account (or accounts) for each child you add. For example, if you register three children:

Live sessions are conducted on a 1-on-1 basis, but there is no extra cost for the parent or guardian to attend or participate, so please feel free to join in.
