musicU.Live Online Quartet transforms live digital collaboration with online Christmas concert more than 100 years in the making

November 1, 2018 (Toronto, ON)musicU.Live, the world’s leading portal for live online music classes, announces today that a quartet of global master-certified instructors from the UK, France, USA, and Italy will join forces as musicU.Live Online Quartet to perform a live, online concert of delightful classic Christmas carols.

This complimentary event will be broadcast live on December 5, 2018 at 2PM Eastern Standard Time, via musicU.Live’s official Facebook page.

“This is going to be an unconventional live online concert, as each master instructor collaborates and performs right in their own country.” says Emilia Ku Yazar, Founder of musicU.Live. “I want to showcase what and how digital technology can bring musicians together in spite of location, time and language, as long as they have the passion to do so.”

Flutist, vocalist, and music educator Pamela Pecko Smith is a native of Philadelphia who has been teaching for over 30 years. She is currently a member of the Notting Hill Film Orchestra, and also serves as Assistant Artistic Director. Smith works with performing ensembles both instrumental and vocal, and has served on music faculties in private and international schools in Hungary, Portugal, the US, England, Kenya, Turkey, and Poland.

Violist Marcello Defant was born in Fermo (Ascoli Piceno) and currently lives in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, near Venice. He has given violin masterclasses in France (Moulin d’Andè, Cratoule), Spain (Jimena de la Frontera), Italy (Accademia Musicale Pescarese, Orchestra Giovanile Siciliana, Ripatransone), and China (Kunmin University). At present, Defant is violin professor at the renowned Conservatorio di Musica di Ferrara, as well as Artistic Director with Venusta Musica in Italy.

Conductor and violinist Bernard Wacheux is former French President of the European String Teachers Association under Sir Yehudi Menuhin, honorary violin professor at the National Conservatory of Music in Lillie, France, and has been teaching for over 40 years. He gave masterclasses in violin and chamber music at the National Festival of Music in St. Cere (Lot) where he led the orchestra of the Lyric Festival. He also conducted the orchestra of Antananarivo (Madagascar). Wacheux is currently Music Director of the Madras Chamber Orchestra in India.

Clarinetist Josh Goo has been offering high quality live online music lessons for the past 5 years. He currently attends Northwestern University, where he’s working on a master’s degree in clarinet performance. Goo is working with composer Sarah Perske on a commission for solo clarinet, and recently performed the world premiere of a piece commissioned from Ross Birdsall by his contemporary flute and clarinet duo, The Kaos Duet.
